Steve Greenwood

Photography

I started photographing street art on a trip to San Francisco in 2007. Walking through the Mission District I was fascinated by the vibrant art that shouted out from alleys and rooftops and corners of the urban scene. On a subsequent trip to London I found a 'graffiti park' set up for street artists and I was hooked.

Since then I've sought out this art wherever I could find it. My goal is to do more than just document and archive the work of these street artists. What I hope to do is to bring a sense of the context and the transitory nature of these works to my photos and to emphasize their color and exuberance.

All of the photos in this series were taken with a Ricoh GX-100, a very small and discreet camera that's ideal for street use, and printed on an Epson archival pigment inkjet printer on acid-free fiber base paper to Giclee standards. Below is a sampling of some of the images from this series.
